What is wrinkle relaxant?

Updated: Sep 13, 2021

Wrinkle relaxant is a substance that works by 'freezing' the muscles. The muscles of the face are attached to the skin. When we make expressions the skin forms lines. Wrinkle relaxant is made up of clostridium botulinum. It is not poisonous as it is used in minute doses. What it does is stops the action of muscle contraction and therefore preventing movement and the resulting line formation. There are three main brands Allergan, Galderma and Merz. Botox is made by Allergan and is a brand.

Wrinkle relaxant usually lasts about three months sometimes longer depending on the individual.
